Elettromeccanica F.E.R. (Fabbrica Elettro Reattori) was born capitalizing on the owner’s experience in the of transformers for electromedical systems dedicated to Marconi Therapy.

F.E.R. begins by dedicating itself to the production of high-voltage transformers for neon signs, experimenting in this field vacuum drying and resin impregnation.

Following market demands, the manufacturing of low-voltage electrical transformers and special windings according to customer specifications are developed. Given the experience with capillary windings, the company increasingly orients itself towards the sector of radiology transformers.

In the mid-seventies production increases and it becomes necessary to move the company to a larger location.

F.E.R. moves to the new plant, still in Ozzano dell’Emilia.

Within a few years, following the requests from important customers, the technology to independently produce monoblocs for dental radiology is developed: the production process with drying and oil impregnation is improved.

Meanwhile, production for illuminated signs is abandoned: radiology soon becomes the company’s main activity.

Elettromeccanica F.E.R. moves to a larger site, still in Ozzano dell’Emilia, enhancing the capacity to further expand the production of radiological generators and to develop the production of monoblocs for dental panoramic X-rays.

Thanks to the experience gained in the radiology sector, other sectors also request FER’s collaboration in the creation of special windings. The coils produced in Ozzano Emilia also arrive in the most important international 4-wheel competitions.

Low-voltage transformers and windings for radiology according to customer specifications, are still produced also in the veterinary sector: the first rotating anode generators, whose performances reach 30KW and voltages up to 110kV begin to be produced.

It is precisely in this period that the first DC monoblocs are developed.

A new customer is acquired: Cefla.

Thanks to its potential in the dental sector Cefla becomes F.E.R.’s main customer in a few years. This is the year in which an important growth in the industrialization and development of DC, intraoral, and panoramic generators is faced.

Production volumes are subject to substantial growth and create the need to further expand spaces and plants. The surface area of F.E.R. doubles with the annexation of an adjacent area dedicated entirely to the warehouse.

After almost two decades of collaboration, the relationship is now strong and stable: the company is acquired by Cefla group, which gives F.E.R. the solidity of a multinational.

Attention is now focused on quality process: new company structures are created, and further refinements on the control of procedures are introduced until the achievement of ISO 13485:2016 Certification.
